Clothes and a free movie

The picture above (taken Monday afternoon) may cause you to ask a few questions.
* Why does Julia look so sad?
* Why are the girls dressed up?
* Why is Valerie taking their picture by a dumpster?

Let me explain...
We went swimming Monday morning and after their shower (yes, they showered together instead of bathed) the girls wound up putting on pajamas - Julia was in fleece. After they ate and rested/napped I needed to go throw some trash away and pick up our mail. When I told them to go grab some clothes to change into, this is what they chose. Dresses - cute, pretty dresses to be worn for 5 minutes while we dumped our trash. Julia's refusal to smile is just b/c she's going through that "don't take my picture" phase.

Here are my fashionistas on Tuesday as we headed to the Free Movie of the week - Planet 51.

The movie was supposed to start at 10:00. We arrived at 9:45, and checked out 3 different screening rooms before settling on sharing a 2 seater by raising the armrest in between the seats. Audrey wound up going potty twice before the movie started. Of course, this was b/c the movie didn't actually start until 10:28. We also dug into our treats.

Yes, I brought popcorn and drinks from home to the theater. Me pay movie snack prices? HAHAHAHAHA!!

By 10:35 Audrey needed to potty again, by 10:40 she'd finished her snack, and by 10:45 she was standing in my lap waving at people - crying when I made her sit down. Planet 51 did not interest her - at all! When 11:00 rolled in she needed to potty AGAIN and while we were taking our restroom break Julia said she didn't like the movie and wanted to leave.

She did not have to say this twice.

We were walking out of the front doors by 11:07.

End of story? NOPE

Do you want to know what Audrey did around 11:14ish??
She decided that the four trips to the bathroom at the movies wasn't enough and informed me that she had just gone to the bathroom in her car seat.

Grossology 101

My kids could teach the course (although I'm sure all mom's, dad's, babysitters, etc. have their own gross kids stories) and Julia and Audrey have exhibited some of their grossosity today.

A. Julia was told this afternoon to stop licking her armpits. A few minutes (literally about 90 seconds) later she was told to stop eating the skin on her heel.

2. Pretty much at the same time as big sis was eating her foot, Audrey decided to randomly get up and grab a baby wipe. She then pulled her pants down and started wiping her panty area. Ok? so what?? Well, instead of throwing these wipes away she started putting them in my oven mitts! What! 2 wipes went in before she was caught.

D. The girls tried making out with the mannequins at Old Navy today. Ugh! How many other people have touched that fake dog?? **BUT** They also posed for these pics while I was trying on clothes.

Brag spot!
While this subject can get pretty gross if the child isn't successful, I'd like to brag about Audrey's almost full potty chart! We'll be going to church with just panties tomorrow. Her first time out of Mommy & Daddy's care sans diaper was Wednesday, but tomorrow will for a good bit longer time period! Cross your fingers! How many extra dresses should I pack?? :) Please also take note of the potty chart Julia decided to make this morning.

This & That Thursday

* Audrey's getting (a little) more successful with her potty training. This makes me happy! I'm planning on working at the church preschool this fall. She's coming too IF she's potty trained... and SHE WILL BE!!!!

* The girls aren't big into posing for pictures right now. Here's what I got the last time I asked them to take a picture together.

* We're having dinner with friends tonight. I'm just supposed to bring dessert. I wish I had my sister-in-law's cake making/decorating skills, but I don't. (HEY AMY!) I wound up making 3 different easy desserts (marshmallow treats, chocolate covered pretzels, and chocolate peanut butter bars) and I'm hoping that will suffice.

* The girls surprised me over the weekend and willingly pet a little lamb. (sorry the pic is bad) Yes, when the lamb actually looked Audrey's way she cried with fear **BUT** at least she pet it. That's progress for us!

* Matt and I watched Shutter Island the other night. It was just the right amount of scary for me. Enough for me to freak out a few times during the movie, but not so much to keep me up for half the night.

* Julia's really into getting in the swimming pool floatie free. She loves the fact that she can hang out in the shallow end and still touch the ground. She's even started swimming on her own for 6 or 7 kicks, although Jules doesn't use her arms just yet. We also need to work on dog-paddling, but she's doing such a good job! It's so sweet to see the look of pride/confidence on her face when she comes up from the water.

Princess Party @ CFA

Last week we went to Chick-fil-a for their Princess night.

Hair, nails, makeup - OH MY!

Pictured with Audrey below is her princess shoe. The girls didn't want to dress up in their full princess attire, but they did want to wear their high heels!

My girls liked looking at the chick-fil-a cow and the princesses, but neither really wanted to be near them. We waved 'hello' numerous times, and after many requests I finally got the girls to take a picture...

They also had a limo for people to take a ride in, but the line for that was really long so we didn't enjoy that fun. Plus, the girls didn't even take a second glance at it when we walked by - not interested. :)

Ahhh, sloppy kisses are the best!

My Baby!

I've got extra pictures on my camera that I haven't blogged about yet. I was looking through them just now and saw one that really caught my eye. Look at my Audrey!! She looks nothing like a baby! My baby is a now a little girl!!!!

Father's Day pics

I had to grab the camera Sunday for some pictures of Matt and the girls. The photo shoot wasn't great, but I'd prefer "ehhh" pictures to NO pictures!

VBS family night

VBS family night was tonight. Audrey just stood there looking confused, but Julia put on a show. She elbowed her way into center stage, accidentally smacked herself in the face, mugged for the video camera, shouted the last note, galloped before taking her final bow, and capped it off by showing the congregation her panties.

This & That Thursday

* We've got VBS this week. Both girls have enjoyed themselves (although Audrey does cry at drop off!) Audrey singing the little preschool songs (motions too!) is just the C-U-T-E-S-T thing! I can't wait to see these 2 perform on Family night tomorrow. A video is a MUST! Don't they look like they're having fun at VBS????

* Julia's been sleeping in winter pajamas recently. She thinks it is hilarious to come running out of her room in fleece even when the low at night is 80!

* Skittles aren't working so well for Audrey and the potty. I think we might move to $. Perhaps she would like the clink of coins in her piggy bank. That or M&M's - perhaps chocolate would work better than skittles??

* We got a few new floatie toys for the pool. Audrey's favorite new toy is the little boat we bought. She likes to throw it in the pool and then jump in after it feet first. Since this action could easily cause her to bust her head open, we've outlawed it. Now she has to settle for diving out of her boat.

* Wednesday night the girls didn't sleep too well. Both girls woke up multiple times. One of the times Julia woke up she was having a night terror. She screamed for awhile, then walked into our room and finally woke up. During this screaming session she woke up Audrey. We wound up putting them back down together - I think this is the first time they've slept together, not that it lasted more than an hour or two.

By the way, Julia's shirtless in the above photo because the child insisted that night on wearing another of her fleece pajamas. Apparently, some time before she fell asleep she got too hot. I promise the child does have summer pj's to wear!

Found it!

We found my camera battery charger!!! YAY! It wound up being spotted on Matt's nightstand, but there really is NO WAY that we both missed seeing it there for the 4 days it was gone. After it was found, we called Julia in to tell her. I said, "Julia, Daddy found the camera charger!" She replied, "Yay! I'm glad it was by Daddy's alarm clock!"

Wait just a minute.

I didn't tell the child it was by Matt's alarm clock; I just told her we found it. I think that a certain shortie in my house had a little bit more to do with the disappearance/reappearance of the camera battery charger than she will admit...

Anyways.

Now I can add a few pictures that I wanted to post earlier this week.

Here's a picture of what Julia and Audrey did on the way home from our trip to the movies Wednesday. Sitting on your bottom in a movie theater for 90 minutes can really wear a child out!!

And here's one of the shots that Photographer Julia took of me and Matt on our anniversary.

This & That Thursday

* I can't find my camera battery charger. No pictures this week :(

* Instead of a romantic dinner for 2 on our anniversary, we went out as a family. Before we left, I wanted to take a few pictures of just me and Matt. Julia was our photographer! Thanks Jules! I'd love to show you the pics she took, but it will have to wait until I can charge the camera...

* The girls and I headed to the Daphne Rave theater to see a FREE movie Wednesday. This weeks show was "Alvin and the Chipmunks." Audrey liked the 'big TV' and the snack I packed for her. She actually did better than I was expecting for her first trip to the movies.

* I made a potty chart for Audrey. Go, Audrey, GO!

* I've been prepping some this week for VBS next week. I've got the 4 year old class. Julia is kind of weirded out that I'll be in there, "You can't be my teacher. You're my Mommy!"

* I think she'll like the fact that her Mommy is her teacher when we go out this afternoon to hike around in search for some large sticks that will be made into fishing poles. She's into the whole fishing thing right now.

* I had Father's Day cards made this week. When I got home, I realized that I had a grammatical error on Matt's. I'm torn between my wanting perfection on the card and my crazy cheapness not wanting to pay to print it again. We'll see which side of my personality wins this argument.

Happy Thursday!

Happy Anniversary!

7 years ago today, Matt married a ridiculously fabulous woman.

:)

I love you, Matthew Sethew. Happy anniversary!

Adventures Outdoors

Matt had a staff retreat at the end of last week. Friday the families went up to the cabin they were staying in and joined them. We had a nice time getting to know these other families and enjoying a few new adventures together.

The girls got to ride on a ferry for the first time.

Both girls enjoyed their first time fishing.

Julia even caught herself a little catfish!

We enjoyed hanging out with some new friends.

A fun time was had by all!

This & That Thursday

* On the way home from Publix this morning, I was kind of daydreaming. Apparently, this daydreaming caused me to drive a little slow. I wound up getting passed by an old lady in a cadillac. She even had a handicapped license plate. I should be ashamed of myself.

*While I'm typing this, Audrey's refusal to go to sleep is driving me nuts. The girl can get LOUD!

*Matt drove up to Phenix City after church last night to attend a funeral this morning. He was planning on lying low on this trip, but that didn't actually happen since he wound up being a pallbearer. I know he was glad to be there to give support to some really special teenagers.

* After the funeral, Matt's driving to a staff retreat. He won't be back home until Saturday. BUT - Tomorrow, the girls and I are riding with the other church staff families to join the staff at a cabin somewhere in AL. We'll be hanging out Friday night and a little Saturday. I'm thrilled to have one less night that I have to stay at home by myself.

* I've recently becomed addicted to "Everybody Loves Raymond" reruns. I even checked out the entire first season on DVD at the library. Don't be jealous of my exciting life!

A sad day for Summerville

Our former church lost a great teenager yesterday in a car accident. Matt wrote a little about her here.

Night, night girlies!

Audrey was begging to get out of her room, but after her requests were ignored she just passed out on the floor.

After a long day, Julia needed a nap. I think she fell asleep in the middle of biting her fingernails.
