Showing of schoolwork

OK so this hormonal pregnant lady notified me tonight that she didn't like me having this new part time job b/c I haven't been posting as much. Honestly, I've been in a little rut for a month or 2 now. There just never seems to be anything new to say. I typically just resort to posting about my kids, and since the majority of the people that read this blog are family then that's fine! Besides, I'm planning on printing out this blog before too long so I definitely want scrapbook type stuff in it to help the 4 of us Bowman's remember these precious times. (Cue the sappy music.)

Check out my new refrigerator decoration. Aren't they too cute? What a precious smile on Audrey!

Audrey's still not talking at preschool. However, Mrs. Grace said that Audrey's personality did start to shine during music time today. While Audrey doesn't want to talk at preschool, she has decided she'll sing (loudly) for them!

The next few pictures are just some shots of schoolwork that they've done. Sometimes I grab the camera before I start tossing it in the trash. Please don't think less of me b/c I'm throwing the majority of their work away. If we kept it all we would already be snowed under with schoolwork and it's only week 3! In both pictures, Julia's work is on the top row and Audrey's the bottom.

Until tomorrow... YES! I'll be posting 2 days in a row! ... Have a great midweek!

Oh! And by the way... When I started off this post with "hormonal pregnant lady" I of course meant "best, most fabulous sister-in law EVER!!!"

This & That Thursday

* Our apartment has become overrun with construction paper, color/glue/cutting pages, and other items from preschool. The trash fairy will be visiting here when the girls go to bed.

* Audrey is still not talking at preschool. She does talk a little more on Thursday's b/c I'm the teacher with her, but Monday through Wednesday she's quiet. Wait. Let me rephrase that. Monday through Wednesday DURING PRESCHOOL HOURS she's quiet.

* My head is hurting right now, but not enough for me to take anything for it. I don't like taking medication unless I'm really/seriously hurting. I prefer to say No to drugs!

* I'm heading to Walmart tomorrow with just a couple of coupons. There is so much wrong with that sentence. 1 - I hate Walmart. 2 - I hate shopping without coupons. However, I'm not impressed with the Publix deals this week so Walmart is a must. Usually I'd still run by Publix for just a few of the good deals, but the idea of dragging the girls into the store for 3 or 4 items is not an appealing one right now. As far as the lack of coupons, my must haves right now are produce and milk. There aren't too many coupons for those. I do plan on picking up a FREE bottle of Gain dish soap and some free razors - that will put a smile on my face! :)

* Audrey is walking around the living room right now pretending to throw up on people. Aren't you glad you know this?

A destroyed flower and puppy dog paws

Julia's very particular about her craft projects from preschool. Audrey on the other hand tends to tear them up as soon as she gets home. Creation was the bible story focus of the week. Here's what happened to Audrey's "God made the flowers" project.

I went to CVS this week to pick up some free stuff (i love couponing)! When I got home I noticed that the cashier had included 2 child safety ID kits in the bag. If you're unfamiliar with these, they are little fingerprint kits to keep on hand just in case the unthinkable happens... Now, I know that it would be pretty easy to get fingerprints of my kids from their toys/furniture around here, but I decided to go ahead and "book 'em". Julia said that I gave her "puppy dog paws".

Check out Audrey's fake smile and puppy dog paws!

This & That Thursday

* Audrey started off the preschool week with a number of accidents. She had 1 on Monday and 3 on Tuesday. Fortunately, I figured out what her issue was. She was watching herself potty and consequently missing the potty. Our "homework" Tuesday night was practicing to keep her legs closed. Too much info? Maybe. All I'll say else about it is that Wednesday and Thursday were accident free up there.

* I'm annoyed this afternoon. The curriculum purchase I made for Children's Church isn't as complete as I wanted, and the music stuff was even more frustrating. I read, read, and reread the descriptions of these items, and then I had Matt read it and ok it. Yet we still erred! Hopefully, order #2 will go better.

* I'm also annoyed this afternoon b/c two little girls are refusing to play in a room that I'm not in. I can't wait until bedtime.

* I'm excited to catch up on GLEE episodes tonight!

* I've really enjoyed Jennifer (Fisher) Tachenko's blog posts this week. She's spending a week just writing some random things about herself. If you knew her from Jackson check it out!

* Matt and I will have a new nephew sometime around the New Year. His sister is expecting with a due date of January 10. We actually found this news out last week, but Amy and Jacob didn't make their Facebook Baby Boy announcements until recently. We're all excited to meet this little one!

Starting preschool

I got the girls ready this morning, but left while they were finishing up breakfast. I needed to get to school early and didn't really want to rush them too much on this first day of school. It's not like bringing them was out of Matt's way! ;) (Our preschool is at the church where he works.)

Thanks Matt for manning the camera this morning!
A photo as they get ready to head out the door...

Another photo before they head out the door...
Audrey's thinking "Come on, DADDY!"

Don't they look adorable in backpacks?
No answers necessary, I know they do!

Walking down the hallway...

First Activities:
Julia - puzzles

Audrey - playdoh
So how did the first day actually go??

Julia made friends easily. The one child she took the most liking to today was the child that was driving me the most crazy! :) Funny how that happens.

I was told by Audrey's teacher that she didn't talk today. When spoken to she would just grin. Goodness knows she had plenty of words to say at home about preschool. Her first words when I asked how she liked preschool were, "I pee my panties at preschool." So you can guess what I've been stressing about since then. (Valerie, you stress?? what?? NO!) Perhaps tomorrow she'll be able to come home in the same clothes she went to school in, AND perhaps Audrey will say a few words to her teacher!

Anyone?

Does anyone else often prepare a blog post or facebook status and then decide to never actually post it because you're overly afraid of what people will think about what you have to say?

Anyone?

Anyone?

Oh.

me either.

It sure would be nice...

It sure would be nice if I wasn't too cheap to pay for a haircut for my kids. Well, since Audrey doesn't have enough hair (yet) to warrant a haircut, I'm actually just talking about Julia. I've been cutting her hair myself for awhile now, and when I tried this week it was pretty bad. I could just never get it to look right. I think I've FINALLY got it looking ok. Thank goodness.

It sure would be nice for my kid not to "glare" at me whenever I try to take her picture... this is pre-haircut by the way.

It sure would be nice to not have to clean up Audrey's bathroom "accidents" daily!!! Thursday was the worst... that's all I'm saying.

It sure would be nice to be able to sleep-in EVER.

It sure would be nice to have a day where I could be by my lonesome.

It sure would be nice if kitchen "help" from children actually helped a mom spend LESS time in the kitchen. As it is, Julia was all too happy to pose with her jello/coolwhip pie. Yes, that's lime flavor. And, yes, she was able to do almost every step on her own - I only helped handle the boiling water.

It sure would be nice to not have to forcibly push Audrey's head over the sink as she's spitting out toothpaste.

It sure would be nice sell our house! Anyone looking to buy in Phenix City???!!!???

It sure would be nice to ask my girls for a pretty "smiley" picture without having to do a whole photo shoot. As it is - here's our session from tonight.

sad face...

crazy face...

angry face...

sleepy face...

happy face...

happy face again...

It sure would be nice to be able to get a cutie face picture of these 2 girls that I love. Half smiles, squinty eyes, and bug-eyes... Oh My!

I may not have gotten the exact photo I wanted, but I did manage to have a number of laughs with the models during our photo shoot. That sure was nice...

This & That Thursday (lots of pics)

* Audrey's home! I don't think she missed us a bit, but we sure did miss her! Now we're just trying to get these girls to remember how to share!

* The following is a picture of a facial expression that Audrey learned sometime during the last 10 days that we were separated. She DID NOT make this whiny face previously! :) Today she's pulled it out on us pretty much everytime we've uttered the word "no".

* Last week, when Matt and I were out of town, his parents came to watch the girls. I changed the sheets on our king size bed so that his parents could sleep in our room. Well, Julia decided to tell her grandparents that she was "supposed to be sleeping in Mommy and Daddy's bed" by herself, and they went along with it! Meme and Pop slept in Julia's full size bed for the week, and Julia lounged about in the king!

* Julia and I spent time at church earlier this week working on a ministry project. We were packing up backpacks full of school supplies. Guess who LOVED being given the job of cutting price tags off the backpacks? Hint: It's someone who still giggles with glee when given a pair of scissors.

* My mom took us to dinner in Gulf Shores tonight. Afterwards, we decided to walk in the sand for a few minutes. Nobody fell (ran) into the water so I was very pleased! Here are a few of the pics we took.

Extended family :)

Matt, Julia, and I drove down to the Gulf Saturday to spend a few hours with my cousin Ellen and her husband Geoff! I'm thrilled that we got to see these two!

Geoff was ready and willing to build sandcastles for Julia to destroy.

Julia and Ellen hammed it up for the camera.

A pretty background for the cousins. Doesn't my hair look lovely after an afternoon at the beach? :)
