Amerian Idol Is Back!

The last 2 evenings, I've been glued in front of the TV watching American Idol. I've been a fan for 5 or 6 years now, maybe longer. Since the tryout portion of the show is also the funniest, I thought I'd include a list of some of my favorite comments from the first 2 episodes of the season.

*You sound like a cat barking.
*Come on Simon, you're gorgeous!
*It made me gradjatate to music.
*You just need to stand away from Miss Annoying.
*Are you serial??
*Do you have a motor or something going on in your throat?
*SHUT UP, you're through to Hollywood.
*I did my best... I hit really loud notes!
*I'm gonna ride on an air-o-plane!
*You won Miss Congeliality?

I also just loved the 62 year old man who decided to show up and perform his original song. A few of the lyrics..."Lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground. Walkin' downtown, gold teeth in and your pants on the ground. Lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground."


The first 2 episodes also made me come to the conclusion that of the guest hosts, Victoria Beckham is MUCH more polite than Mary J. Blige. Coming into A.I. auditions as a judge - it's a given that you're going to have to hear some really bad singers. Victoria was mostly able to politely tell them that singing just wasn't a good career choice for them. Mary just kept busting out with laughter! Instead of chuckling at the lack of self-awareness of the contestant, I wound up thinking "HOW RUDE - at least show them a TAD of respect." In my opinion, Mary was much ruder and more disrespectful than Simon, and as every American Idol fan knows - finding someone 'ruder' than Simon is a hard task.
